Who is Roger Stockham?

There’s bound to be a lot of speculation about a man found outside a Dearborn, MI mosque with a car full of explosives. After doing a search of Google News Archives and the Federal court system’s records database (PACER), I can honestly say that more questions have been created than have been answered.

First, here are the news articles I found.

Modesto Bee, 1 Jul 1985:

Press-Courier, 16 Feb 1982:

Press-Courier, 2 Dec 1981:

Press-Courier, 19 Oct 1979:

On Scribd, I uploaded a two page “Order of Conditional Release” (23 Aug. 2005):

On April 29, 2005, this matter came before the Court for a disposition hearing under 18U.S.C. § 4243(e). Pursuant to § 4243(e), this Court entered a Disposition Order on May 2,2005 wherein it ordered Mr. Stockham be committed to the custody of the Attorney General for hospitalization until his mental condition is such that his release, or his conditional release under a prescribed regiment of medical, psychiatric, or psychological care or treatment, would not create a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person or serious damage to property of another.

By Certificate of Conditional Release dated August 17, 2005 the Warden of the U.S.Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri certified that Mr. Stockham has recovered from his mental disease or defect such that his conditional release under a prescribed regiment of medical, psychiatric, or psychological care or treatment, would not create a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person or serious damage to property of another.

Now, in all honesty, I cannot confirm with 100% certainty that this is the same Roger Stockham. But everything seems to match up with the current description on TPM.

Update: Here is the docket/case history.
